A couple of weeks ago, Australia’s Open Day took place in Dubai, representing food, fashion and education of the country in one big fair. I had the chance to have a talk with the Australian/Lebanese mix who scored the title of Miss Australia 2012, and was second runner up of the Miss World title.
I got the low down on her upcoming projects, favorite fashion designers, and fashion blog!

How’s your modeling career going and what have you recently added to your work agenda?

> Modelling career is going great! Amongst the many editorials I’ve shot in Dubai, I was recently featured on the cover of the first issue of L’officiel Middle East which was exciting.
What are the rest of your plans for 2013? Any exciting collaborations?
> 2013 has been really rewarding so far! I recently signed a deal with Yahoo Maktoob to be the face and presenter of their two new online entertainment shows: ‘omg! NOW’ (which I present in English) and ‘omg! NUJOOM’ (in Arabic). There is a lot more coming so stay tuned!
How do you try to bridge both your Australian and Lebanese cultures?
> Being born and raised in Australia by wonderful Lebanese parents have allowed me to both enjoy the Aussie culture while learning the Arabic language, traditions and way of life. I have been blessed to experience both and I love and visit Lebanon every year without fail!
Tell us an interesting fact about yourself?
> I have never tried coffee!
How are you liking Australian Open Day? What are you doing here today?

> I’m loving Australian Open Day! I’m so proud to be involved in an event that creates a bridge of trade, education and tourism between Australia and the UAE. I’m actively promoting the beautiful culture and country of Australia today and telling people that it’s only a flight away with Emirates or Qantas thanks to the new partnership.

  • Time for a little fashion trivia! (I couldn’t help it)
How would you describe your style? Who are your favorite style icons?
> My style is classic with an edge. I love tailored dresses and blazers. It does however vary daily depending on my mood. Sometimes I feel like wearing jeans and a tee while other times I feel like wearing a colourful dress. I love Jennifer Lopez’s vibrant style, Carine Roitfield’s daring outfits and Emma Stone’s chic look.
Do you follow fashion blogs? If you do which is your favorite?
> I do! I love Chiara Ferragni aka ‘The Blonde Salad’ and I always stumble on some new faces as I’m browsing on instagram.
What is your biggest fashion no-no?
> Style is so personal but I always cringe when I see people wearing shoes that are way too big or way too small… oh, and tan lines!
 Dresses or jeans?
> Jeans! No, Dresses! Don’t make me choose!
What’s your number one beauty and style tip that you’d want to share with my readers?
> Always be comfortable in what you’re wearing. You will feel confident and beautiful!
What do you have in your everyday purse?
> Phone, Elizabeth Arden lip cream, wallet and Evian Facial spray.
 Favorite designer?
> Haute Couture – Georges Chakra is the one for me. Futso Puglisi, Alexander Wang, Chloe and Proenza Schouler are some other favourites for Prêt-a-porter.
